Slowine Pinotage 2017
Generous in its flavours but never over-bearing, this jovial red is easy drinking but yet serious. From the Bossieveld climate region, the grapes were harvested at 23ºC.
From the warm climate meso area the grapes were harvested end-February to mid-March. Cold soaking and slow fermentation process has led to an intense extract with an excellent flvour profile. Fermentation took place at a temperature of 24 – 27ºC.
Extraction of colour and varietal characters by means of pumpovers. Malolactic fermentation and maturation took place in a stainless steel tank. The wine was then filtered and fined for bottling.
The colour is an attractive bright ruby red with a purple rim, typical of a young Pinotage. The flavours of this unique South African cultivar are complex and exciting ripe plum and fruitcake all beautifully integrated and then finished for a lingering after taste.
Oxtail makes an ideal food partner for this wine, as do a variety of other red meat dishes.

Slowine is a collaborative project by producers who have their vineyards around the Groenland Mountain.
Contrary to the way it may sound, Slow Living does not always mean that things have to happen slowly
